Greece National Team beat 84-55 Turkey and advanced to the semi finals of FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017, for the first time in the history of our country.

A historic as well as clear victory for the Greek Women’s National Team who is bracing for Saturday’s semifinal against the winner of the tie between France and Slovakia.

The Greek Team stormed against its opponent in the second half making the game an easy walk in the park!

An unprecedented barrage of three-point shots from the Greek team finished any hopes of the Turkish Team.

On Thursday the Greeks had 100 percent in free throws and 52 percent in three-pointers, along with 21 assists against Turkey’s 10.

Experienced guard and captain of Greece Evina Maltsi was the MVP of Thursday’s clash, with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Stella Kaltsidou (10 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists) and Lolita Lymoura (7 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists) also gave solid performances for the team of head coach Nikos Keramidas.

Last week Greek basketball celebrated the 30th anniversary of its first major title on national team level, the men’s Eurobasket of 1987. This time it is the women’s team that is writing a new chapter in Greek basketball’s history!
