A royal actress from… Greece

Princess Theodora of Greece and Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein, Glücksburg), also known under her stage name Theodora Greece, is an actress. She is the second younger daughter and fourth of the five children of former King Constantine II of Greece and Anne-Marie of Denmark (born 9 June 1983 in London).

Theodora’s godparents are Queen Margrethe II of Denmark (maternal aunt), Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom (her mother’s third cousin), former King Michael I of Romania (her father’s first cousin) and former Crown Prince Alexander of Yugoslavia. She’s also in the line of succession to the British throne.

Theodora attended the all-girls boarding institution, Woldingham School, situated in Surrey, England, between 1994 and 2001.

After a gap year spent at St Philip’s College in Australia’s rugged Alice Springs, Theodora attended Brown University under the name Theodora Greece, where she received her Bachelor of Arts on 28 May 2006 in Theatre Arts, having also attended Northeastern University in Boston. Subsequently she undertook graduate studies at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

In April 2010, Theodora moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, appearing in supporting roles under the name Theodora Greece. “I decided I wanted to act when I was quite young in school and I was really shy and it helped me overcome that and I get to become other people and that’s the most fun to do… I don’t think that my background was either an obstacle or a blessing. I sort of put it aside and just focused on the job that needs to be done that I have to do and went forward.” She made her television debut as secretary Alison Montgomery in the long-running soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful, on December 5, 2011.

But blue blood doesn’t open Hollywood doors, according to the princess, who works under the stage name Theodora Greece. “I don’t think my background has been either an obstacle or a blessing,” she said. “I put it aside and focus on the job. People get to know your background eventually, but not right away.”
